Mexican Cuisine
If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.
Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.
Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.

Vegetarian/vegan friendly! We came here for coronas and chips & salsa in the middle of a day- and it hit the spot. It wasn't too busy- being a block or two off the main block of downtown Glenwood- it is a solid local spot. The beans are free of animal product so we got a yummy little plate of rice and beans that went perfect dipped with chips. Salsa also came with a delightful pickled cabbage bowl.

So yum! You can't beat being able to walk to some awesome food. Hubs had the chipotle burrito and I had an enchilada and chili relleno combo plate, so spot on yummy!! Authentic and affordable considering where we are here in the Mtns. It's always so empty which is disappointing, I'd like to see the succeed.

The salsa you get when you come in is made with canned tomatoes. Meh....The other cabbage salsa they brought out was friggin outstanding. It was spiced perfectly. Margaritas were served in pint glasses, not so authentic. They tasted okay, but I make better at home. Order them on the rocks instead of frozen. The burrito I had was good. I asked for a few jalapeño slices for my meal and was surprised with 3 fried and seasoned jalapeños that were incredibly delicious. Wow! Well worth the $2 extra they added to my bill. My wife's tacos were delicious, the meat was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The staff was pleasant and fast. I will return.

We were recently on our way back to Denver from Glenwood Springs, tired and hungry, and looking for a decent restaurant to rest our feet and get a decent meal at. We decided Mexican sounded good and we came upon this restaurant as we were driving down the main drag. It looked like a nice place from the outside. There were other patrons there but it was by no means full. The waitress brought our menus fairly quickly but it was a while before we saw her again for drink orders. After waiting 5 minutes or so to place our drink order, we waited another 15 - 20 minutes before we ever saw said drinks. At the time of taking our drink orders the waitress informed us she was waiting for fresh chips to be made and then they would be right out. That too was another 15-20 minutes. We have four kids, two of those being under the age of 4, so waiting extended amounts of time for a drink and a snack is not our strong suit. I did notice that there was only one waitress for the dining room and she was also the bartender and tending to any patrons that sat at the bar and ordered food and drinks. She seemed very frustrated and in a pretty bad mood. Our food came out in a decent amount of time but it might as well have stayed in the kitchen. I agree with another review of this restaurant that whoever claims this as good Mexican food has never had good Mexican food. The rice was dry and bland. The refried beans were also bland and please don't bother to order the queso Fundido. I tried the fish tacos and that was a regretful decision. The fish was so over-cooked it was hard to chew. The only thing that wasn't terrible was the cheese quesadilla that my two little ones had from the kids menu. But let's be honest, it's pretty difficult to mess those up. All in all, this place was not worth, at all, what they are charging for their food. The waitress needed more help which caused our service to be very subpar. My suggestion, don't do it. Chili's would have been a better choice. Unless all you want is a margarita. Those were good. You'll just have to wait 20 minutes to get one.

My husband and I love this place. We visit about once a month. I haven't tried everything, but we are working on it. Their chipotle sauce is excellent. They make it from scratch. I also live the carne asada. It is nicely seasoned and great if you don't want anything too spicy. The staff is friendly especially Fredy the owner who will take time to chat.

This restaurant sit right on the main street through Glenwood though hides in plain sight without much in the way of signage, as is the norm more often than the exception in G-wood. I only found it by the delicious smells emanating from the front door as I passed by on a jaunt through downtown. At that moment I vowed to return. The food itself was mediocre. The service was good and the restaurant itself was clean. The cabbage was outstanding and the salsa had a nice little kick to it as well. I ordered the steak fajitas and to the credit of the chef, they certainly were an original recipe. For my taste, however, I prefer for the meat to be the centerpiece of the dish and on this occasion the meat was coated in some sort of sauce that I felt detracted from the overall dish rather than complimented it. I would return to this restaurant in the future but I would be hard pressed to order the steak fajitas again.

Hands down, the best chicken fajitas I've ever had. In my life. I'm originally from Chicago and recently transplanted to Colorado. Mexican is one of my favorite cuisines and I've eaten at many a Mexican joint in my day... I hesitantly ordered the chicken fajitas, as so many places ruin this dish... however, their chicken was so incredibly moist and full of flavor, add in the perfectly grilled onions and peppers, some fresh house made guacamole on a corn tortilla and you've just found heaven. Our two servers were quick and friendly as well! If ever we come back this way, I will plan my entire trip around a meal here. This authentic mexican restaurant is NOT TO BE MISSED!!!

This place was gross. From the food, to the eating area, to the bathrooms... definitely not somewhere I would eat again. And I would definitely not recommend this restaurant to any others. Chips were stale - definitely not fresh. The "mild" salsa tasted like it came out of a can. The chicken quesadillas and tacos were greasy. The only thing that was decent was the guacamole - which was made fresh. You would catch me eating at Taco Bell before I would ever eat here again!

Good service and good looking plates. The salsa and especially the cabbage salad are great. My choice, enchiladas verses, was a bit bland, dumb-downed for the tourists perhaps?
(3)Sjlewis S.
Ate there night before last and got the pork green chili burrito and jumbo marg. Very very tasty, good service loved everything about my meal including chips with two different salsas. Will go again soon.
(5)Wayne W.
The steak fajitas were good, the chips seemed fresh and the margaritas tasted fine. I would come back here again for shure.

Terrible. One waiter/bartender. Dropped our lunch off and never came back. My taco salad was DRENCHED, my plate full of liquid. When the waiter finally came at the end of the meal, he said that's because they soak the iceberg in water. I didn't eat any of it and he still charged us for it. Will never be back.

What a really good find right here in downtown Glenwood Springs. Service wasn't great but it was good. It is a small mom and pop type of restaurant that served excellent food. But the orders were so big we weren't left hungry and asking for more. They also made some kind of side dish for the free chips and it look like it was a type of coleslaw but I have to say it was outstanding and not something I ever received at a mexican restaurant before. We honestly ate more of it than the salsa. Check this place out but only if have a little time to wait for the food. It is made on the spot and comes out piping hot.

I ate at Las Margaritas on a recent trip to Glenwood and was less than impressed. The service was slow, but friendly and the food mediocre. We got there about 12:45 and only two other tables were full at the time. The waiter took our drink orders right away, but it too about 20 minutes to receive our drinks and then he forgot one of them. He took our food order at this time. Overall, we were there for over an hour and a half. My friend ordered the chicken quesadillas. For $6.00, it was just a tortilla with some cheese inside, no chicken. It also did not come with any salsa or guacamole. Another friend ordered one cheese enchilada with rice and beans. She received two enchiladas, but he assured her she had only been charged for one. When we got the bill, she had been charged for two. Yet another friend order the fajitas and did not get any tortillas. She had to ask for them twice and the rest of us were almost finished with our meals before she got the tortillas. So 3 out of 7 orders had issues. I ordered a combo with a cheese enchilada and chile relleno. The cheese enchilada was fine, but I did not eat much of the chile relleno. It tasted and looked like a chile wrapped in egg. I know soft rellenos tend to have an egg batter, but this did not seem like a batter. Despite all the negatives, Las Margaritas did have some good points. Our waiter was friendly and apologetic when things weren't quite right. Their chips, salsa, and slaw were all good (and bottomless). The dining area and bathrooms were clean despite it being very slushy outside. At this point, I would not recommend this restaurant to others, but I also wouldn't be opposed to trying it again to see if was just an off day.

I think Coloradans have no idea how good Mexican food should taste. We're from San Diego, and the food at Las Margaritas is bland and far from what real Mexican mamas make. We ordered as take out the Margarita combo. It looked good, and the veggies were very good. But the chicken and beef were tasteless. Not only that, but the beans and rice were the blandest I've ever experienced. I hope Coloradans will come to Southern California and discover the true taste of excellent comida mexicana.

So I'm sitting here 2 days in a row munching on their free chips and amazing homemade pico di gallo and salsa and having a delicious homemade frozen mango margarita. Beware 2 of these will knock your socks off!!! The service is great and the food is amazing. They are a fairly new business to Glenwood Springs. I highly recommend trying this authentic Mexican restaurant.

We went on a cold snowy night and were the only diners there. Fabulous salsas and margaritas! The chicken mole was very good but slightly over - sweet. Great service. Overall a fantastic experience.

Fantastic staff that loves to speak Spanish at any given opportunity if you know a few words here and there. Some of our favorites: Las Margaritas Burrito and the Perfect Margarita. The restaurant itself sits on the main street, but you don't have to worry about the noisiness of the traffic, because once you step inside, it's very tranquilo. Food is super yummy, the atmosphere is fantastic and I always look forward to going back!

Cinco de Mayo in Glenwood Springs. Where to go? What to do? Trusty Yelp App to the resuce! And there we found Las Margaritas and its excellent reviews. It was a no-brainer. The restaurant is fairly new so the space is very clean and it's conservatively decorated. It has the airy high ceilings of all the old downtown storefronts. We thought it would be really crowded on Cinco de Mayo but it was mostly empty. In fairness, the entire town was pretty quiet, presumably enjoying some down time before the summer tourist season began. Our server brought us chips and two different salsas right as we were seated. The tomato salsa was a bit sweet for my taste but still pretty good. The clear favorite is the slaw made of cabbage, vinegar and jalapenos, which we decided to try and replicate at home. Bueno! We shared the fajitas for two and got a shrimp and chicken combo. I was kind of blown away by the shrimp. They were larger than I expected and perfectly cooked. The shrimp skillet also included mushrooms, which I thought was unique but really they were more a a filler since we got only about 8 shrimp in total. Nonetheless, I enjoyed them so much that I think next time I'm going to try a different shrimp dish. The chicken fajitas were really tasty also. I'm not sure how the chicken was seasoned but it was tender and moist. The accompanying rice and beans were great, too. I like the option for low fat whole beans instead of refried (not that I took advantage of it, but it was nice to know it was there). We did order a couple of margaritas on the rocks also. They were fairly decent but nothing exciting. Our service was very friendly but the waitress was probably still in high school, so we had to ask a couple of different times before we got some water. I guess it's a good thing they weren't very busy! All in all, we had a great experience and Las Margaritas is officially on our list of dinner options in Glenwood Springs.

Somehow I missed the reviews for the actual taquerias in town, so we went to las margaritas. Adequate Mexican food. Carne asada tasty, but the pork was dry. Taco salad bland, as were the beans.

I'm really sorry to leave this review. I think this is my first one-star. We were walking around the cool Glenwood Springs downtown with many great restaurants. We had a group of 4, and couldn't agree on any of them. The Yelp reviews were best for Las Margaritas in the mexican category, so we ended up there. We had one of the most surreal restaurant experiences of our lives. Drink Order - Our waitress didn't know which beers they had on tap, so she brought water and said she would have the manager come discuss beer options with us. The manager stopped by a couple of minutes later to educate us on the zero beers on tap. So we ordered margaritas. Food Order - three of us ordered identical combos. One of us ordered a side of sour cream. She repeated the sour cream request because of the draft beer incident. Meals came, no sour cream, everyone out of water, so we asked the waitress for refills and sour cream. Appetizer arrives - we asked the food-runner for sour cream and water refills, we got water this time, but again, no sour cream. Back to food order - 3 of us had the relleno / enchilada combo, but two of us were missing the enchiladas. All three plates looked similar, but only one plate had both items, two plates had only one item. So we informed the food-runner of that, and in a few minutes we had small plates with the enchiladas. Food - the beans were okay. The cheese dip and salsa were very good. The chips seemed pretty stale. The cheese enchiladas and rellenos were okay. The seafood enchiladas were prepared with canned fish, we think. Pretty nasty. So much so, that we were a little scared and decided to leave more than half of that uneaten because of a funny metallic taste. The margaritas were pretty good. Although the one person who requested salt on the rim did not get it. The employees were nice, just not too sharp? Not sure on that. They were not busy (about 6 tables out of 12 dining?). Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant until they have a pretty significant overhaul. We've never had so many mishaps in one setting. It was a bummer because we were starving.

My girlfriend and I decided to stop off in Glenwood Springs during our return to Denver from a trip to Southwestern Utah. Both being in the mood for Mexican food we sought out a restaurant in the Springs via Yelp. I had a combination plate consisting of pork enchilada, taco, and tostada. The serving was HUGE and all for a very reasonable price. The food is of above standard small Mexican restaurant fare and flavor. The staff are attentive but not overbearing. All things considered I will definitely be back there if I have the craving for Mexican food and find myself in Glenwood Springs.

Are you kidding , four stars? Start with the Margaritas, no Gran Marnier for " perfect margaritas". Chili relleno was nothing more then a soggy cheese omlet with sauce. Cheese enchelada was ok. When manager informed about displeasure with meal I was told that's how Mexican food is in Glenwood Springs, really poor customer service. I will not return or recommend to friends; enemies absolutely

We ate here on a recent trip to Glenwood Springs, CO. There was not a lot of people there which made me a little nervous, but we were thinking Mexican food so we sat down. Plus it had great reviews from yelp. The food was good and the server was very nice. I would definitely not hesitate to recommend this restaurant.

Stumbled into this place on a whim. Wasn't expecting good Mexican food in Glenwood Springs... could not be happier with our decision. The owner was very nice and waited on us himself. Asked what was good and he immediately recommended a combination plate of grilled shrimp, chicken, and beef. Took the recommendation, and also ordered the Chile Rellenos. The combination plate is incredible. Literally one of the best mexican dishes I have tasted in my life... which is saying a lot because mexican food probably makes up at least 50% of my diet. All of the meat had a fantastic flavor, and it comes with two whole grilled jalapenos. If you are in Glenwood and looking for great Mexican food... this is the place.

Had lunch on a Thursday. Margarita burrito filling and good. It wasn't great! The Sala wasn't much more than out of a can. However, the Mexican cabbage salad was outstanding!! We'd never had anything like that before. Service was minimal at best. All-in-all nothing to write home about.
